On 12 July 2016, ACILP successfuly organized in Dakar, Senegal, a one-day seminar on Bilateral Investment Treaties (BIT) signed by the Republic of Senegal. The objective of the seminar was to share with Senegalese authorities the outcomes of the first issue of ACILP Country Bilateral Investment Treaties Assessment Reports which assessed the BIT practice of the Republic of Senegal. The forum, which ACILP organized in partnership with Geni & Kebe law firm and Access Partnership, was officially opened by the Minister of Investment Promotion and the Minister of Budget. It was attended by senior public officials serving, among others, in the Office of the President of Senegal, Parliament, Economic, Social and Environmental Council, State Judiciary Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Industry and Mines, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Budget, Ministry of Investment Promotion, Investment Promotion Agency (APIX), Strategic Sovereign Investment Fund (FONSIS), Senegalese Bar Association etc.
At the end of the seminar, all participants thanked and congratulated ACILP for taking this important initiative which will help the Goverment to develop a model BIT and design better and harmonized public policies in the area of foreign direct investments.
